Direct monitoring of twinning/detwinning in a TWIP steel under reversed cyclic loading

چکیده

In situ tensile and reversed cyclic tests were run on a TWIP steel in SEM, with High-Resolution Digital Image Correlation (HR-DIC) measurements of the plastic strain field few selected grains prone to twinning, spatial resolution between 150 250 nm, or under an AFM, surface steps height at emerging deformation twins. Evidences detwinning upon load reversal, as well quantitative data twinning/detwinning/retwinning obtained. Detwinning retwinning, which often only partial, spite fully loading, did not seem start onset stress reversal. It required sufficient variation stress, close twinning (estimated 400–475 MPa) absolute value, so that mechanical hysteresis local twinned fraction occurred. Primary secondary along same plane, inducing axial strains opposite directions, also allowed some accommodate strain. Under fixed amplitude (±500 MPa), twin all monitored saturated values 0.5 3.5%, from 2nd cycle, while (±0.5%), it increased ratchetting way during whole hardening stage, reaching 0.5–5%. both cases, however, accommodated by twinning/detwinning, reached 0.35–0.42% 1st decreased down less than 0.05% after 100 1000 cycles.

Mechanical behaviour of TWIP steel under shear loading

Twinning induced plasticity steels (TWIP) are very good candidate for automotive industry applications because they potentially offer large energy absorption before failure due to their exceptional strain hardening capability and high strength. However, their behaviour is drastically influenced by the loading conditions. In this work, the mechanical behaviour of a TWIP steel sheet sample was in...

Behaviour of Reinforced Fibrous Concrete Beams under Reversed Cyclic Loading

When earthquakes occur, energy released by the earthquake gets induced into the structure as ground motion and this energy has to be dissipated for safety reasons. To release seismic energy, the structure should damage in such a way that on one hand, collapse of structure should not occur and on the other hand, after the earthquake, damage should be economically feasible to repair. To avoid the...

Mechanics Model for Simulating RC Hinges under Reversed Cyclic Loading

Describing the moment rotation (M/θ) behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) hinges is essential in predicting the behavior of RC structures under severe loadings, such as under cyclic earthquake motions and blast loading. The behavior of RC hinges is defined by localized slip or partial interaction (PI) behaviors in both the tension and compression region. In the tension region, slip between the ...
